                      The boy seated on a chair with his spaniel on his knee, in front of a dark red hanging with wooded hills in the background. 
                      He holds the dog’s paw and with his right hand with his left on it’s head. Spaniels were a sign of loyalty and fidelity, and as a hunting dog this implies that the boy is probably of noble blood.
