PAIR OF MID 18TH CENTURY LILLE TAPESTRIES 'ENTRE FENÊTRES'
One decorated with a park and French gardens; two fountains in the centre with a château in perspective in the background. A tree adorned with roses and a parrot sit in the foreground over a river with three ducks.
The other tapestry decorated with a cloister and formal gardens in the background, a flower bed in the centre and a dog in the foreground facing a bird holding its prey, surrounded by finely drawn, colorful, flowering vegetation.
Both tapestries surrounded by a border of turning acanthus leaves in blue and gold.
The two tapestries woven very finely in wool and silk, lined with linen and ready to hang.
Signed G.W for Guillaume Werniers, who came to Lille from Brussels in 1738.
