Finely woven in wool and silk, with a later double plain border, the tapestry is fully lined and ready to hang.

Aubusson, circa 1760.
Following the success of the first 'Tenture Chinoise' woven at the Beauvais Factory (after the paintings of Guy-Louis Vernansal and Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer, 1688), Jean-Baptiste Oudry commissioned a new Chinese Series from François Boucher for Beauvais for which the cartoons were painted later by Dumons for the Aubusson factory to produce tapestries, as seen here.
